Afghanistan's borders and territories are continually challenged by regional actors and insurgent groups. Insecure borders and territories have affected Afghanistan's security initiatives and national sovereignty. During President's Ghani's campaign in Afghanistan's Eastern provinces, Ghani promised to defend the sovereignty and freedom of Afghanistan's borders.

June, 2015: The Afghan Foreign Ministry on Thursday summoned Pakistan's Ambassador Abrar Hussain to protest against the recent skirmish in the Angoor Adda border crossing which left one Afghan Soldier dead and two Pakistani forces wounded.
