While it is estimated that Afghanistan's women are more than 50% of the population, they are significantly underrepresented in the workforce. As part of his pre-election campaign commitments, President Ghani committed to developing and enforcing women-friendly labor laws and employment policies for both the government and private sector by endorsing and signing the Afghan Women's Network's "Afghan Women’s Six Point Petition to the Front Runners of the 2014 Presidential Election" .
