Afghanistan's security and economic stability is closely tied to cooperation and working relationships that are developed between the Government of Afghanistan and regional stakeholders such as Iran, Pakistan, China, India, Turkmenistan etc. President Ghani has committed to singing regional cooperation agreements to promote the prosperity of the country during his election campaign.

Status Details:  

May, 2015: Afghanistan's National Directorate of Security (NDS) and Pakistan's Intelligence Service (ISI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that will see both countries working closely together to fight terror, officials have confirmed. However after major public and political disagreements on the MoU, Afghanistan's National Directorate of Security (NDS) said the recent memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Afghanistan and Pakistan's intelligence service (ISI) is not practical and that it will come under review by a panel of experts who will report directly to the president.

April,2015: According to the Office of the President, two cooperation agreements were signed in presence of the Presidents of Afghanistan and Iran between Afghan Foreign Minister SalahuddinRabbani and Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. JawadZarif. The agreements cover cooperation between the two foreign ministries, and academic cooperation between Afghan Ministry of Higher Education and Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. April,  2015: During a three day visit to India, President Ghani pledged to long term cooperation With Delhi. PM Mohdi also indicated that India was ready to sign regional economic partnerships with Afghanistan and Pakistan.

October, 2014:  President Ghani's first international trip abroad was to China to discuss trade and economic cooperation as well as security issues with the Taliban and Pakistan. On April 19 2015, President Ashraf Ghani and the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) have indicated a delegation from China is expected in Kabul next week in order to discuss plans to construct a new Silk Road between the two countries.

November,2014:  President Ashraf Ghani met with his counterpart MamnoonHussain where both the head of states discussed cooperation in several areas of mutual interest. President Ashraf Ghani stressed the need for improved security and defense relations between Kabul and Islamabad. President Ghani and Pakistani Finance Minister Ishaq Dar have agreed to boost the trade volume from $2.5 to 5 billion USD, according to the Presidential statement."
